Portsmouth's Clipper Strong Fund donates $1,000 to Gather food pantry

PORTSMOUTH - Last week, leaders of the Gather food pantry, the Seacoast’s largest hunger relief agency, were told they’d be the recipient of a donation from the Clipper Strong Fund, but did not know how much would be coming their way. On Monday, flanked by city officials and Clipper Strong Fund Committee members, Gather administrators took hold of a $1,000 check written in their name.
“We were pretty amazed,” said Gather associate executive director Seneca Bernard.
The Clipper Strong Fund, created last June by Portsmouth Mayor Rick Becksted to help provide local small business relief amid the challenges presented by COVID-19, chose donating to Gather as the fourth and final initiative to help assist city small businesses as they navigate the pandemic. ....

Local businesses donate $80,000 to workforce housing fund

Several Cape organizations have stepped up with donations to the Housing Assistance Corporation s Workforce Relief Fund, just as the state s eviction moratorium is expected to be lifted at the end of the month.
The corporation recently received $80,000 in donations to the fund, which offers money to help keep residents struggling to pay their rent or mortgaged housed during the pandemic.
Created when COVID-19 first started to affect the region, the fund offers one-time emergency assistance payments to year-round residents who are experiencing a gap between their incomes and eligibility requirements for governmental programs.
The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation donated $50,000, the Cape and Islands Association of Realtors donated $20,000 and Shepley Wood Products donated nearly $10,000 to the fund. Barnstable Brewing also kicked in money from sales of its Civic Rent lager. ....

HYANNIS – A gift of $50,000 from Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation, $20,000 from the Cape and Islands Association of REALTORS, and nearly $10,000 from Shepley Wood Products and Barnstable Brewing from their Civic Rent lager have given a boost to the financial resources provided by Housing Assistance Corporation to help vulnerable renters, facing the possibility of eviction, stay in their homes.
The winter season on Cape Cod is always a hard time for our local workforce to stay afloat, and the pandemic has only exacerbated this problem of our seasonal economy. PLYMOUTH The Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless, a multi-service organization providing shelter, food and basic needs support, announced that it has received a $25,000 grant from Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation.
The grant is part of a commitment from the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation to provide financial support to local organizations focused on COVID-19 relief.
The grant will directly impact the PAC’S ability to provide emergency shelter to homeless families in Plymouth and 21 South Shore communities, and to also provide much-needed resources for the food insecure of the community.
“We are tremendously grateful to the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation for this extraordinary grant. EBCF’s responsiveness to the ever-increasing numbers of individuals and families impacted by the pandemic is remarkable.
