The Wall Lake City Council is seeking public input on a proposed housing addition for the community. According to Clerk, Chris Rodman, officials are investigating three potential sites for the expansion. One of those sites is the baseball field on the west side of town. Rodman says there are several aspects of the property that make it an attractive option.
Rodman adds the overall cost of the project would also be significantly lower with less than 500 feet of road to be constructed. The East Sac County (ESC) Community School District currently owns the ballfield, but early indications are that they would be willing to sell the unused diamond at a significantly reduced price compared to the other two properties the council is considering. City officials understand that some residents may be opposed to the field being replaced by residential lots, and Rodman encourages individuals with concerns about this possibility to make them known to city leaders.

According to Rodman, they are not anticipating a lot of revenue from the sale, and any money raised will go back to support future projects at the former school. He says these items will need to be disposed of regardless, and it is more efficient to do so locally rather than seeking out potential buyers.

According to Clerk, Chris Rodman, doors will open at 6 p.m. Wednesday night and residents will have about an hour to look through the school before gathering at 7 p.m. to review the current ideas, new proposals and a tentative timeline for asbestos remediation and demolition work.
Officials hosted their first community meeting on June 2 regarding potential options for the approximately 12,000 square feet of space that will be left over when the property transfer to the city is finalized. Rodman says the process is nearly completed and all that remains is for some paperwork to be filed and the deed handed over. The city has already had some interest from local businesses in the property. Rodman says the Wall Lake Commercial Industrial Corporation (WLCIC), an economic development company, is purch
