Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) has prepared a summary report of COVID-19 cases reported in schools over the Easter long weekend. The affected schools sent letters to their families immediately following notification of each positive case.
Out of respect for the individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, no further information will be shared about the cases. The affected schools have been disinfected. AHS is expected to provide all close contacts with further direction on testing and isolation instr

Grande Prairie resident Jackie Benning is the recipient of the 2021 Trailblazing Woman of Influence award.
Through her grassroots initiatives, Benning embodies what it means to challenge gender bias, discrimination, stereotyping, while celebrating women’s achievements in the community.

“I felt very honoured to be considered a women of influence. It’s such an honour when your community recognizes you,” Benning said. “I also felt very humbled because there are so many women that influenced me and so many women that I work with, to be the one recognized also feels like it should have been a group thing because there are so many women that are deserving of that recognition.”
