All in all 71 local organizations and nearly 1700 hundred donors participated in the event, raising funds for non profits ranging from the arts to sports and healthcare to history. Port Huron Police connects with community through partnerships and initiatives

Port Huron Police Community Service Officer Duane Hunger walked the streets near the department s community outreach center at 2529 Manuel St. in late March. It was brisk and sunny, and while a few people were out, children had not yet returned home from school.
Hunger s walk began with sidewalks outside community housing. He swung by Shiloh Baptist Church to check the property. At a house beside the church, a woman stopped him to ask if he heard about a man kicking in doors in the neighborhood. She thought he was there to investigate.
