Friday April 12, 2013 TAMPA BAY – If you want to know why the Arena Football League playoffs are going to be a joke this season, there s no need to do more than look at the standings in the American Conference. The Jacksonville Sharks are 4-0. The rest of the conference combined is 4-13. The Tampa Bay Storm and the New Orleans VooDoo were the most recent teams to embarrass themselves on Friday night. Tampa Bay was beaten by the shorthanded San Antonio Talons 52-36, while the VooDoo were beaten 76-30 in the most embarrassing game of the season to date. The Tampa Bay loss probably doesn t lump it into the Oh my goodness, these teams are so damn awful group quite yet. Of course, this writer is really questioning just how motivated this team was to play in a game against the 0-2 Talons, who were playing with a quarterback in Nick Hill that had only showed up in the Lone Star State 48 hours before this one kicked off. The fact that the Storm lost both QB Adrian McPherson (a ....
Manny Nunez Monday April 28, 2014 The Los Angeles KISS needed a rebound game with the losses they have been going through. On the road against the Iowa Barnstormers last week, nothing went right. Quarterback J.J. Raterink was still out of sync, throwing three of the five interceptions as a team. Donovan Morgan was quiet on the stat sheet. Penalty yards also kept tallying up too, feeding chances for the Barnstormers which propelled them to win 31-12. So what better way than to come back to the Honda Center in front of their own crowd for two straight home games.
It is unfortunate though, that the San Jose SaberCats had to visit the KISS first. A team that has been around for nearly 20 years, they were once a team that had talked about being a dynasty, appearing in four ArenaBowls during the 2000 decade, winning three of them. They aren t the same team as before, but their success still lives on the field with their high octane offense, something that th ....
Doug Plagens Panthers Mailbag Volume Five by Doug Plagens / @DougPlagens / Radio.com/WQAM Anytime you can take eight of 10 points on the road, and erase a three-goal deficit in the third period of the trip s final game, it s an outstanding trip. That s what the Panthers just did! The comeback in Columbus last night may be the best illustration of the confidence, the it factor, the swagger, the moxie (Whatever you want to call it!)… that this 20-21 edition of the Panthers has. After Ryan Lomberg scored his first NHL goal and pulled the Panthers back to within a pair in the third period, the Panthers body language looked like that of a team that was in charge. The Panthers, nearing the end of a long road trip, down multiple goals in the third period on the road pushed a structured, defense-fi ....
