BREAKING: CCSO identifies man whose body was found on courthouse steps By Tom Barr - tbarr@wnewsj.com WILMINGTON The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office continues the investigation after a body was found Tuesday morning outside of the main entrance to the Clinton County Courthouse. At approximately 6:47 a.m. the sheriff’s office received a 911 call in reference to a male subject who appeared to be deceased lying on the front steps of the Clinton County Courthouse, according to Col. Brian Prickett of the sheriff’s office. Units from the sheriff’s office and the Wilmington Police Department responded to the scene along with Wilmington EMS units.

ODNR: Wildlife officer shot Sunday undergoes second surgery The wildlife officer who was shot Sunday while investigating a reported poaching has undergone a second surgery. Kevin Behr “sustained serious injuries as the result of a gunshot wound on December 20,” Ohio Department of Natural Resources spokesperson Stephanie O’Grady told the News Journal Tuesday. “While his condition is stable, he underwent a second surgery Monday evening.” She added, “We ask for prayers for a full and speedy recovery.” Three suspects charged in relation to Sunday’s incident will be arraigned in court next week. Brian Liming, Thomas Davis and Bryan Achtermann all of whom have now been released on bail from the Clinton County Jail will be arraigned Tuesday morning in Clinton County Municipal Court on charges stemming from the incident late Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 4 p.m. Sunday the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Communication Center advising that a wildlife officer had been shot and needed assistance, according to the sheriff’s office. Wildlife officers and ODNR officers working in the area responded for assistance, as well as officers from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Outdoornews December 21, 2020 Martinsville, Ohio  In a still evolving and fluid matter, three southwest Ohio individuals have been arrested in connection to the alleged shooting of Ohio Division of Wildlife commissioned officer Kevin Behr. The Clinton County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Office said the incident is alleged to have occurred about 4 p.m., (Sunday), Dec. 20. This was the last day of Ohio’s two-day, so-called “bonus” statewide firearms hunting season. Following is the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office media release on the incident. More details are expected, perhaps by Monday, Dec. 21. The release reads: “On Dec. 20, 2020, at approximately 4 p.m. the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Communication Center advising that a Wildlife Officer had been shot and needed assistance.
