Swindon Crown Court A HIGHWORTH pensioner who compared himself to Jekyll and Hyde has been jailed for a six-month campaign of controlling abuse against his vulnerable wife. Clifford Pyle controlled access to his wife’s medication, called her vile names and threatened her with knives. The 71-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of controlling and coercive behaviour on the day of his trial in January. Sending Pyle to prison for 21 months on Wednesday, Recorder Roger Harris said: “There is very noticeable lack of remorse on your part.”
Swindon Crown Court was told Pyle had been married to his wife, who has learning difficulties, for 11 years.
