Small intricate and with skilful precision Rachel Davies adds the finishing touches to a slate mosaic. It is one of many pieces which will feature in the forthcoming Summer Exhibition and market at Becky Walker’s The Green Gallery in Buchlyvie, Stirlingshire. Running over the course of next weekend, Saturday May 15 and Sunday 16, check dates it will feature 28 artistic creators and makers who are all female. With restrictions in place for much of last year with galleries closed and events cancelled, lockdown was a chance for some artists to become even more creative and the forthcoming exhibition is the result of that productivity.

As member Jim McColl explained: Our guest speaker this time was Claire Christie from the area Citizen s Advice Bureau, a charitable, independent organisation covering north-west Aberdeenshire. Theater officials made the pivot in the fall once it became clear that the company would be unable to safely stage its annual holiday show, Executive Director Susan Pringle said.
“It’s something that a lot of families enjoy so we knew we had to mobilize, we knew we had to find another plan,” Pringle said. “It definitely required us as a staff to rely on skills we had but that weren’t utilized in our professional work.”
