KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) has called on its members to help break the Covid-19 infection rate in the country.
Acknowledging that the manufacturing sector contributes 99 out of 318 active Covid-19 infection clusters, the federation’s chief executive officer Yeoh Oon Tean said it is important that FMM’s members to do their part to by taking additional proactive and preventive measures to tighten the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) at workplaces and the living quarters of employees. ....

KLANG, Dec 24 Another glove producer is at risk of being shut down temporarily over its non-compliance with Covid-19 rules, in relation to its workers’ dormitory here.
The Klang district health office said it has already uncovered several violations and is investigating other concerns before deciding whether to shut the factory completely or just the dormitory within its premises. ....

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 The Health ministry announced 2,018 new Covid-19 cases the third-highest in a day since the pandemic hit Malaysia.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor topped the list once again recording 1,204 new cases with 1,115 cases coming from existing clusters.
“Selangor recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 at 1,204, followed by Johor at 278 and Sabah at 247,” he said in a press briefing. ....

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 ― Eight new Covid-19 clusters have been detected nationwide today by the Ministry of Health, bringing Malaysia’s total to 459 clusters since the virus broke out here.
Five of them are spread out in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor while the ministry said Johor, Perak and Sabah each has one new cluster.
The first cluster, dubbed the Pasar Baru cluster, has 309 cases so far out of 2,001 people screened. Its index patient was reported as Covid-19 positive on December 15, with the infection having since spread to Klang and Kuala Langat in Selangor. ....

BENTONG, Dec 15 Police have denied allegations which went viral on social media yesterday that about 1,500 workers in Genting Highlands were housed at a hotel in the resort after being tested positive for Covid-19.
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said the screening on all the workers conducted by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) came out negative but they were placed at the hotel to undergo the 14-day quarantine. ....
