Galion Community Foundation awards $115,800 in grant funds

GALION The Galion Community Foundation (GCF) held its annual meeting on April 6 and awarded grants to 12 applicants, approved the distribution of funds earmarked by donors to area organizations, and set amounts for the scholarships administered by the Foundation.
Galion Community Foundation distributed more than $115,800.
Grants totaling $8,225 were awarded to the following applicants:
• Come Home to Galion (Santa Parade and other Dec. 4, 2021 events) $1,000
• CONTACT of Crawford County (publicity materials) $300
• Galion Cemetery Association (stump removal program) $500
• The Galion Historical Society (brochure about a new facility) $500
• Galion Council of Religious Education (after-school club materials) $300
Charlotte Rose (Mason) Richmond, 79, passed away on April 20, 2021, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN, after battling a chronic illness for several years.
Born on June 22, 1941, Charlotte and her three siblings â Pat, Charlie, and Cathy â were raised as foster children by Lillian and Earl (Grandma and Grandpa) Shear in the hamlet of Woodville, NY. After graduating from Belleville Central School, Charlotte worked for three years at General Electric in Syracuse, NY. She returned to Belleville to marry James Warren Dodge, and they had two children, Ernest Merrell and Christina Marie, before divorcing 11 years later.
For 28 years, Charlotte worked full-time as a school secretary at Belleville Central School and part-time as a waitress at Gill House in Henderson Harbor, Tomacyâs Restaurant in Adams, and Verelliâs in Henderson Harbor. After her retirement from the school system, she served for 16 years as Henderson Town Clerk.
