Kirbyville Police were busy early Tuesday evening after a vehicle and a bicycle collided. It happened at about 5:30 at the intersection of West Main and South Vallie Streets.
Kirbyville Police Chief Paul Brister said a woman who lived nearby was riding a bicycle southbound on Vallie and rode out in front of a vehicle that was westbound on Main.
Brister said the man driving the vehicle told officers that he slammed on the brakes and swerved, but he still hit the woman.
Brister said she was being transported by ambulance to a hospital, but he didnât know the extent of her injuries.

According to DPS Sergeant Stephanie Davis, it happened at about 8:00 on U.S. Highway 287 just northwest of Woodville. Davis said Brister was driving northbound in a 2016 Dodge pickup truck when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the highway and struck a tree.
The Woodville Fire Department was called to the scene with Jaws-of-Life when it was reported that the man was trapped in the vehicle.
