Butler Co. sees 11 percent increase in overdose deaths after two-year decline By Kody Fisher | April 8, 2021 at 10:15 PM EDT - Updated April 8 at 11:08 PM BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (FOX19) - The Butler County Coroner’s Office says it saw an 11 percent increase in overdose deaths in 2020. That reflects an increase of 18 deaths from 2019, when the coroner’s office recorded 159. The spike is doubly significant after at least two years of declining overdose deaths. Martin Schneider with the coroner’s office says it’s unlikely to be one cause driving the increase, though he notes mixing drug is particularly dangerous for users.

(Contributed photo) LOUISVILLE — Sarah Bleile joined the Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program in 2019 because she was looking for a challenge. A challenge is just what she got. She was in the middle of her YAV year when the pandemic hit the U.S.  The YAV year came to a halt, but rather than returning home, she chose to shelter-in-place at the YAV house in New Orleans so she could continue to serve as a volunteer with several YAV partner organizations.
