Saturday, May 22 has been designated UN International Day for Biological Diversity with the aim of increasing understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues.
And Saudi Arabia, with its surprising diversity of wild animals and plants, will be celebrating the event which this year is running under the theme, “We’re part of the solution.”
The Kingdom boasts 499 species of bird, 117 different mammals, 107 kinds of reptile, 266 coral reef varieties, 1,230 types of fish, eight classifications of amphibian, and more than 2,400 flowering plant species.

BROOKFIELD, WI North Shore Bank announced its new Hero Lending Program, designed to specifically recognize and serve heroes in its communities throughout Wisconsin, according to a news release.
The custom program offers a set interest rate of 2.99 with only a 2.99% down payment that can be gifted. Qualifying occupations under Hero include any employee of a medical care facility, fire department, public or private educational institution, or federal, state or local government law enforcement agency, as well as nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and active or former military personnel, the release said.
