A “thin blue line” flag displayed at an Upstate New York school has sparked complaints.
The Democrat & Chronicle reports the flag, a black-and-white version of the American flag with a blue stripe in the middle, stirred up controversy as it hung within a security office exterior window for several months at the Greece Central School District’s Odyssey Academy. Some critics argue it’s a racist symbol, while others say it shows support for police officers and other law enforcement.

One speaker said, “Black students said the flag makes them feel unsafe. We need to listen to them and respect their voices.”
