Kirinyaga MCAs say they will buy ambulances using the car loans that they were promised by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking after the morning assembly session in Kerugoya on Wednesday, Thiba MCA Pius Njogu said that they deliberated to buy ambulances as a way of boosting the health sector.
“We will not take the loan as Kirinyaga MCAs. Instead each ward is going to have an ambulance from the car loan that the president said will be given as a way to boost the health sector and also save lives,” Njogu said.
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Wednesday drummed up support for the Building Bridges Initiative Referendum Bill and pleaded with the ward representatives to endorse it for the benefit of the county.
She said the BBI, if passed in the referendum, will increase equitable share allocation for the county to a record Sh8billion. Once the Bill sails through, our county will receive Sh8billion up from the current Sh4billion for development and recurrent expenditure. This amount will enable us realise enormous development for our people and reduce dependency on the national government, she stated.
Speaking at the Kirinyaga County Assembly in Kerugoya as she delivered her State of the County Address, Ms Waiguru noted that the provision of a minimum of 5 percent allocation towards the ward development fund will guarantee Sh400million to every ward for purpose of development in the region.
”What you told Kikuyus on Kameme FM is pure lies, you supported corrupt Anne Waiguru”- Mike Sonko mocks Uhuru
MY BRIEF STATEMENT ON UTTERANCES MADE BY PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA THIS MORNING ON VERNACULAR RADIO STATIONS.
My attention has been drawn to utterances made by President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier today while speaking in his native Kikuyu language on various vernacular stations, alleging that he is the one who made me the Governor of Nairobi, and confessing that he is the one who initiated my removal from office to what he termed as “my leadership style that nearly grounded services in the City.”
Impeachments, revenue sharing formula wrangle top Parliament business
Tuesday December 29 2020
By EDWIN MUTAI
Summary
The Senate was for months divided on grounds that the new formula that places more weight on population would deny less populous counties billions of shillings.
It took the Senate a record 10 failed attempts to break the revenue sharing impasse that culminated in the retention of the old formula that has been used for the last five years.
In September, Senators finally struck a deal and approved the new revenue-sharing law that had stalled the passage of the County Allocation of Revenue (CAR) Bill 2020.
It was a dramatic year in Parliament that saw counties endure a four month wait for their equitable share of revenue as Senators failed to agree on the sharing formula needed to unlock the release of the funds.
