âWeâre really hopeful we can make a real dent in rural broadband access in the next couple of years,â said Charlotte Davis of the Rural Maryland Council. She described Marylandâs broadband as âSwiss cheese,â with high connection in urban areas and spotty service in rural areas.
Cecil County Farm Museum and Regional Agricultural Center is poised to open its doors to the public next month.
There was a sneak preview Wednesday for officials of Cecil County and Maryland as well as Cecil County Public Schools.
The center is located on Appleton Road in Elk Mills and shares the campus of the Cecil County School of Technology.
Jeffrey Lawson, superintendent of the schools, said he sees the center becoming part of the curriculum.
âI think itâs a great idea to bring some of our students through in a field trip setting,â Lawson said after touring the buildings, which include living displays, vintage and antique farm technology and a classroom. âHere they can experience and learn more about the local community.â
ANNAPOLIS â State Sen. Stephen S. Hershey Jr. has been named a ârural championâ by the Rural Maryland Council.
According to a news release, the RMC and its membership convened by teleconference on Dec. 2 for its executive board meeting and Rural Impacts Award ceremony.
This annual event provides an overview of upcoming events and activities for 2021 and honors advocates for rural Maryland communities, the release states.
âAfter one year as Chair of the RMC, I have met so many more people that support the mission of the Rural Maryland Council. I was humbled to present these awards to some of our most caring citizens,â said John Hartline.
