OXFORD â A shooting between two motorists in Granville County on Saturday resulted in the hospitalization of a father and child .
Granville County Sheriff Charles Noblin said that no charges have been filed as a result of the shooting just yet, but he expects that to change later this week as authorities gather more information about the incident.
âAt this time, we are speaking with the district attorney to see if any charges are going to be brought on to either party involved,â Noblin said. âWeâre going through the evidence and as soon as I speak with the DA, we should have more information on how to proceed with this case.â
OXFORD â Granville County Manager Mike Feltsâ budget request for fiscal 2021-22 would hold the countyâs property tax rate right where itâs been the last four years, at 84 cents per $100 of assessed value.
Felts said the $74.5 million spending plan for the countyâs tax-fueled general fund will continue existing services, but is otherwise conservative in its approach as the region continues to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
âWe just cannot forecast the direction of recovery efforts at this time,â and in any event officials believe that âduring times of uncertainty it is necessary to retain as much flexibility as possibleâ so they can deal with whatever comes up,â he said.
