Aponte returns to Select Board, other newcomers elected in Belchertown

BELCHERTOWN Three years after losing a seat on the Select Board, Ronald E. Aponte, a six-term incumbent, is returning to the panel.
At Monday’s town election, Aponte, of Azalea Way, received 756 votes to top three candidates vying for two seats. Incumbents Gail Gramarassa, who defeated Aponte in 2018, and Nicholas O’Connor both opting against pursuing reelection.
Nicholas Pucel of Brandywine Drive secured the second Select Board seat, with 658 votes, outpacing former Select Board member George D. Archible, of Chauncey Walker Street, who got 539 votes.

An investigation is ongoing after a report of a man sexually exposing himself on fields in Fairfield, Buxton.
Police say that on Monday, April 26, at around 5.40pm a man was seen to expose himself to a teenage girl.
The fields are to the side of Granby Road next to a dirt track from Tongue Lane where officers say the man was seen lying down.
When the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced it would reimburse eligible families who lost loved ones to COVID-19, staff at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison picked up the phone.
For each family that had used their services to honor a coronavirus-related death, they called to say they had documentation ready when the family needed it.
