Ford Design Exits and Entrances
Ford design leader Moray Callum is taking his pen and going home.
Callum will call it a day after 38 years as one of the auto industry’s preeminent designers. With more than half his career at Ford, Callum vacates his post as vice president, design, for Ford and Lincoln brand vehicles worldwide. His successor is Anthony Lo, most recently vice president, exterior design, at Renault. Callum will leave on May 1, after a one-month transition period with Lo, who starts April 1.
Callumâs influence at Ford has been profound, especially the work he and his team did recently, which included the 2021 F-150, Mach-E, new Bronco, and Bronco Sport. A redefined product line at Lincoln led to the brand’s resurgence. Other successes attributed to Callum included the 1999 Super Duty truck, 2011 Explorer, 2005 Mazda MX-5, 2007 Mazda CX-7, 2015 Mustang, and F-150, and 2016 Mustang GT.
Moray Callum, global design head at Ford, is retiring after a 38-year automotive design career that most recently included helping to create the 2021 F-150, 2021 Mustang Mach-E and the 2021 Bronco and Bronco Sport, the company announced Monday.
He will be replaced by Anthony Lo, 56, most recently a vice president for exterior design at Groupe Renault, where he has worked for nearly 11 years. Earlier, he worked as a design director at General Motors Europe.
Ford hired Lo directly from Renault, confirmed Ford spokesman Ian Thibodeau.
Lo will begin transitioning into the role April 1 and will assume leadership when Callum s retirement takes effect May 1. They report to Hau Thai-Tang, chief product platform and operations manager at Ford.
Ford Motor Co. said Monday that its global design lead will retire, to be replaced by an automotive industry veteran who most recently worked for French automaker Groupe Renault SA.
Moray Callum, whom the Blue Oval described in a news release as one of the industry s most influential design leaders, will retire as the company s vice president of design for Ford and Lincoln effective May 1, capping a 38-year career in product development. The changeover is just the latest in a series of senior-level staffing shakeups since CEO Jim Farley took over Oct. 1. In the last few months, the automaker has announced a new sales leader for the U.S. and Canada, the replacement of its chief financial officer, and retirements of its chief information officer, president of its international markets group, and chief manufacturing and labor affairs officer, among other changes.
