On a cloudy Thursday in Waukee, a massive crane gently transferred a fully constructed drive-thru from a semi-truck trailer to its foundation at 1025 S.E. Laurel St.

The company behind the Hyper Energy Bar brand is Heart of America Group. The Quad Cities-based real estate and hospitality firm operates several hotels and restaurants in the Midwest, including Johnny s Italian Steakhouse and Burger Shed.

Chelo’s founder now penniless; daughter fights to keep him at home
Amet Chelo, founder of Chelo’s, pictured here in his Cumberland home, has little or no money left to his name, but his daughter is doing everything she can to keep him in his home.
