EU Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevicius said the negotiations should be concluded as soon as possible and that an agreement can be reached on future fish catches in the coming weeks. After consultations with the national EU ministers Mr Sinkevicius said: We are still confident that we can agree on final fishing quotas for 2021 before the end of March.
The current chairman of the EU Fisheries Council, Portugal s Minister for Marine Affairs Ricardo Serrao Santos, stressed that the negotiations had to be concluded as soon as possible.

Liam Campling, Professor of International Business and Development at Queen Mary University, argued that Boris Johnson s agreed Brexit trade deal remains extremely fragile. During an interview with Express.co.uk, Professor Campling noted that this fragility could result in instability for the EU fishing industry. He noted that EU is wary changes in British politics could result in the UK reneging on the agreed fishing deal.

Scottish Whitefish producers association CEO Mike Park argued the Scottish fishing industry will suffer severely over the next few years because of Boris Johnson s Brexit deal. While speaking to RT Question More, Mr Park argued the deal was atrocious for Scottish fishermen. He also accused the Government of misleading fishermen about the benefits of the agreement for the industry.

Speaking to LBC radio, Alistair Roberts of Brora Fishing in Greenock explained Scottish seafood is being rejected by buyers in Spain, France and Italy due to export delays and back up of lorries after changes in the regulations imposed by Brexit. He said: We always knew there were going to be teething problems at the very beginning but this has ended up a lot worse than what we expected.

The warning came from the Scottish White Fish Producers Association CEO Mike Park who told RT News the Brexit deal agreed by Boris Johnson has proved to be atrocious for the fishing industry in Scotland. Mr Park blasted Michael Gove and Scottish Secretary Alister Jack accusing the pair of lying about the greatness of the agreement secured with the EU. He said: If you lose customers and they find a suitable alternative source elsewhere, then there is a possibility you can lose them long term.
