NXT s Johnny Gargano Retains at TakeOver: Stand and Deliver

Tonight s Championship lineup included Johnny Gargano defending his North American Championship against the winner of the Eliminator Gauntlet match. That ended up being Bronson Reed, and their match was as good as expected. Early on it was all Reed, but Gargano managed to avoid several of his attacks, though Reed stopped the show when he pulled a Bam Bam Bigelow and avoided Gargano with an amazing cartwheel. Reed got Gargano in the corner and lifted him up but Gargano hit Reed with elbows and a charge to his chest and ribs, and Reed was feeling it.
NXT s Shotzi Blackheart Reveals Joker Gear at TakeOver: Stand and Deliver

During tonight s loaded TakeOver: Stand & Deliver card, Women s Tag Team Champions Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon defended their titles against The Way s Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell, and since it was a special occasion everyone got dressed up for it. Hartwell and LeRae wore their slick superhero-style costumes from their Avengers and Fantastic Four artwork, but Blackheart went for a more villainous look, revealing gear that seemed to be themed after The Joker.
The biggest hint of this was in the hair and makeup. Blackheart s hair is always green, but the way it was styled gave it a Joker flair. The makeup also looked very Joker with a design around the eyes that was reminiscent of the recent Joker movie, and the gear also happened to be primarily purple and green.

After a night full of outstanding matches during Night 1 of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, it was time for the main event, as NXT Women s Champion Io Shirai headed to the ring to take on one of her most dangerous challengers in Raquel Gonzalez. Shirai went out of her way to challenge Gonzalez after taking care of business against Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez, and since then they ve locked horns a few times but not in a match. Now the time has finally arrived to figure out who will be the next Champion, and the bell had barely been sounded when Shirai charged at Gonzalez.
NXT s Zoey Stark Stuns Toni Storm to Kick Off TakeOver: Stand and Deliver

Tonight s NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver kicked off with a match between Toni Storm and Zoey Stark, and the two got right down to business, locking up right after the bell rang. Storm is coming off of a memorable match against Io Shirai and Mercedes Martinez, while Stark has been impressing in a number of matches over the past few weeks. Stark found herself in several holds thanks to Storm early on, but she was able to reverse them and get the upper hand briefly. Storm, hit her with a big forearm and hit her with several elbows, but Stark clocked in a nice hit around Storm s neck and a big chop, followed by a high flying dropkick.
NXT s Pete Dunne Defeats Kushida at TakeOver: Stand And Deliver

After the pre-show between Toni Storm and Zoey Stark, it was time to kick off the main show, and starting things off were Kushida and Pete Dunne. Right from the bell, both stars showcased their technical prowess, as they battled with holds, counters, and more until Dunne finally got one over on Kushida and slammed him back first onto the side of the apron. Then Dunne stepped on his arm and hyperextended Kushida s arm and elbow over the ropes. Kushida felt that in a big way, but Dunne wasn t done, as he locked in another submission and stomped on Kushida s wrist, located not the same arm he pulled over the ropes.
