Hunt honored in last OVC Tournament Posted By: Simon Elfrink April 29, 2021 Andrea Jameson  ajameson1@murraystate.edu As the spring golf season comes to an end, Head Coach Eddie Hunt retired after 20 years of coaching the Murray State men’s golf team beginning in 2001.  The 2021 season finishes with two strong suits for the men’s golf team as they contributed to the Racers placing 9th in the Ohio valley men’s championship tournament.  Seniors Avery Edwards and Austin Knight competed in their last OVC championship event which took place in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Edwards finished in 10th place with scores of 76-69-73 218 while Knight placed 41st in the tournament with scores of 77-82-73 232. Senior Connor Coombs placed 34th shooting rounds of 78-73-77 228 while sophomore Carson Holmes took home 55th place shooting 78-81-83 242.

Coombs, Knight impress in third round of Murray State Invitational Posted By: Simon Elfrink April 12, 2021 Andrea Jameson ajameson1@murraystate.edu  It was an exciting weekend for the Murray State men’s golf team as they competed in the Murray State Invitational in Dickson, Tennessee, on Monday, April 5, and Tuesday, April 6, with two seniors winning the low-round honors at the Greystone Golf Club.  As a team, the Racers shot a line of 289-296-294 879, placing sixth out of 15 teams in the competition.  Seniors Connor Coombs and Austin Knight made the lowest score in the first and third round of the tournament with a three-under-par 69. Austin Knight swung a line of 72-76-69 217 and placed 18th as the Racers’ best finisher with senior Avery Edwards falling right behind in 27th on rounds of 74-73-74 221.

Rain cuts Gulf Coast Collegiate short Posted By: Simon Elfrink March 5, 2021 Andrea Jameson  ajameson1@murraystate.edu The men’s golf team traveled to Diamondhead, Mississippi, to compete in the Gulf Coast Collegiate. Because of  inclement weather, they were not able to finish their third round. The team was only able to finish 36 holes as the rain forced them home without a full three-round tournament. Overall, the team placed sixth with a spot in 10th out of 12 teams. As a team, the Racers shot a line of 297-330 627.  Although the weather stopped the team from performing a full three rounds, some scores were featured from the first round of the tournament. Senior Avery Edwards placed 11th with scores of 70-79 149 and senior Connor Coombs placed 32th with scores of 74-81 155.
