According to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Xavier Alejandro Martinez, 28, was convicted of murder by a jury after a week-long trial and sentenced by a judge on Monday. He will have to serve half of the sentence before he can be considered for parole. Martinez was charged in the deadly stabbing of Josselin Yamileth, 32, at their apartment in the 4000 block of Galveston Road on May 23, 2018.

Hector Mario Saldarriaga, 60, was riding his bike along Galveston Road when police say Crystal Reyes, 37, hit him and left the scene. “It was a tragedy for all of us. We never expected to lose him that quickly,” Saldarriaga’s brother-in-law, Sergio Sarduy said. Police say Reyes almost hit another patrol officer as well. That officer pulled Reyes over and determined she had been drinking. She was arrested and posted a $30,000 bond.
