United States Africa Command News by Section History of U.S. Africa Command U.S. Africa Command began initial operations Oct. 1, 2007, and became fully operational Oct. 1, 2008. For the past 13 years, U.S. Africa Command has worked with African partners for a secure, stable, and prosperous Africa.
