The Carter Center and The Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE) announced an exciting new partnership to support the Carter Center’s innovative disease elimination efforts in the Americas.
GLIDE, an initiative of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has pledged substantial financial and technological support for the Center’s programs to eliminate two neglected diseases: river blindness (onchocerciasis) in the Amazon rainforest along the Brazil-Venezuela border and lymphatic filariasis (commonly called LF or elephantiasis) throughout Hispaniola, the island shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
