Oz: HBO prison series reunion set for ATX Festival

Oz reunion is planned for the 2021 ATX Television Festival.

Oz reunion was supposed to happen last year, but the Covid-19 pandemic threw that idea into solitary until now. The event will look back on the HBO prison drama with creator/executive producer Tom Fontana, director/actor Terry Kinney and cast members Lee Tergesen, Dean Winters, Harold Perrineau, and Kirk Acevedo. More guests are expected to be added to the list at a later date.
Oz ran on HBO for 56 episodes across six seasons from 1997 to 2003. Oz was a nickname for the Oswald State Correctional Facility, formerly Oswald State Penitentiary, a level 4 maximum security state prison where scores of criminal inhabitants were kept. The series chronicled their daily activities, as well as the lives of those sworn to keep the prisoners in line. The series starred Ernie Hudson (
“ZIWE,” the upcoming Showtime late-night variety show from comedian, writer and internet personality
Ziwe. There also will be an in-depth look at Small Axe, Amazon Prime Video s anthology series from filmmaker
Steve McQueen. He ll be joined by Miss Juneteenth director
Channing Godfrey Peoples for a conversation.
Also announced on Thursday:
• A screening and Q&A for Fox s new animated series, “HouseBroken”; the panel will include co-creator/actor/executive producer Clea DuVall (“Veep”), executive producer/actor Sharon Horgan (“Catastrophe”), actors Nat Faxon (“Friends From College”) and Sam Richardson (“Veep”) and co-creators/executive producers Gabrielle Allan (“Veep”) and Jennifer Crittenden (“Veep”).

Fans of the short-lived MTV comedy
Faking It will be treated to a reunion, marking five years since the series finale. The special program will celebrate the showâs impactful LGBTQIA+ representation with the help of its panel made up of Carter Covington, Rita Volk, Katie Stevens, Michael Willett, Yvette Monreal, and Sophia Ali.
Partnering with Showtime, the event will also feature a conversation spotlighting
ZIWE, an upcoming late-night variety show starring the Brooklyn-based writer and comedian.

Small Axe anthology series based on the real-life experiences of Londonâs West Indian community between the â60s and â80s.
