WE’RE not going to take it anymore! That is the view of an action group opposed to Cardigan’s revised Covid-19 safe zone who say residents have already endured more than their fair share of ‘traffic chaos’. The ‘We Say No to Cardigan Town Traffic Diversion’ group have questioned moves to restrict town centre traffic as the Welsh Government look to downgrade restrictions to alert level 3 by May 17. In strongly-worded letter to Cardigan Town Council, protestors claimed the community had been ‘misled’ by the local authority’s Covid-19 Gold Command. “If the justification…is to facilitate social distancing, then please consider the scientific fact that the risk of virus transmission is substantially lower outdoors than in,” they said.
Parts of Cardigan are grotty - claims resident
A Cardigan resident has slammed the town s grotty appearance on the walk from Quay Street car park up towards Ebens Lane. CARDIGAN is being let down by the ‘grotty’ appearance of some its areas. That is the blunt opinion of one town resident who has written to Cardigan Town Council urging them to ensure the town ups its game. Liz Hardy, who said she had been living in Cardigan for the past 18 months, maintained numerous parts of town were in dire need of some TLC. “Cardigan is trying to become a vibrant town, but if you park in the Riverside car park and go up the pedestrian way it just looks grotty,” she said.
New mayor of Cardigan, Cllr Debra Griffiths. CARDIGAN’S new mayor Debra Griffiths – who appeared with her family in the acclaimed BBC Wales documentary Coal House in 2007 - says she is looking forward to her new starring role. Ms Griffiths took over from Cllr Clive Davies as mayor of Cardigan on Tuesday night in a virtual handover ceremony at Cardigan Town Council’s headquarters at Pendre. She will have fellow Mwldan Ward representative Cllr Trystan Phillips as her deputy, while her husband, Cerdin, will act as consort. “It’s a pleasure to be here as mayor,” Cllr Griffiths told colleagues. “I never thought this day would come, but I will do my best as always and just follow the good work undertaken by past mayors.
