Dunbarton town moderator Rene Ouellet opened the school district meeting by reading a report of the 1918 influenza pandemic’s impact on the town and schools.
Schools had been closed and there had been numerous absences of teachers and students more than a century ago.
“It sounds like the people of Dunbarton were dealing with the difficulties of the pandemic then, just as we are now,” Ouellet said.

Western Bay of Plenty police have identified the three most targeted suburbs in Tauranga after a spate of car break-ins over the past six months. Thieves have been seeking out unlocked vehicles in Arataki, Pyes Pa and Pāpāmoa East.
Personal effects were being targeted but the biggest prize for thieves appeared to be payWave cards.
Western Bay of Plenty Neighbourhood Support manager Bruce Banks said thieves could do a horrendous amount of damage to people s bank accounts in a short time.
Man found shot to death on Christmas Eve in Saginaw County

BUENA VISTA TWP, MI Police are investigating the Christmas Eve shooting death of a man in Saginaw County’s Buena Vista Township as a homicide.
About 2:52 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, Buena Vista Township police officers responded to 636 29th St. for reports of several gunshots being fired in the area. Upon their arrival, they found a vehicle in the driveway containing the body of 26-year-old Alonzo K. Conley, police said.
Conley had suffered at least one apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
