The National Newspaper Awards for 2020 were handed out virtually on Friday night. Here is a complete list of winners and finalists:
Arts and Entertainment
Winner: Johanna Schneller, Globe and Mail, for columns tackling the subject of gender identity and gender politics in the arts world.
Finalists: Améli Pineda, Le Devoir, for an investigation into accusations by nine women about assault or sexual misconduct by comedian Julien Lacroix; Jean Siag, La Presse, for articles about sexual abuse and misconduct in the circus industry.
By Harriet Grant TWO local actresses who grew up together and hit the heady heights of fame together are bringing their first double-act comedy debut back to Barnes. Amy Phillips and Olivia Poulet, both accomplished actresses with a string of big-name credits to their names are performing Fiasco!, a three night sketch show of songs, comedy and dance runs on June 5th, 6th and 7th at the Old Sorting Office in Barnes. The main show begins at 8pm but there is a DJ and bar from 7pm. Their comedy credits include Absolutely Fabulous, Teachers, Rescue Me, the Working Title feature film What Rats Won t Do, My Family, Acorn Antiques and Hat Trick s latest comedy drama Trevor s World of Sport.
