As part of Earth Day celebrations across the state, Gov. John Carney and state officials gathered April 22 on the marsh boardwalk trail at St. Jones Reserve to make the announcement and unveil the first America s Bywaya sign.
The reserve, located south of Dover off Kitts Hummock Road, contains a visitors center and 2-mile nature trail. It s also a key center for research and monitoring of the Delaware Bay marsh system.
Carney was joined by Delaware Department of Transportation Secretary Nicole Majeski, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary Shawn Garvin, Delaware Tourism Office Director Liz Kellerand, and representatives from Delaware Greenways and tourism groups.
Starting next Tuesday, Delawareans 50 and older can request an appointment through the state at vaccinerequest.delaware.gov. After requesting an appointment, they will be added to the state s waiting list and eventually offered a slot at a state-run mass vaccination event.

Two Monroe men are facing charges of larceny after they admitted to stealing a reach-in refrigerator valued at $3,000 that was being stored outside of China Express in Monroe Township Monday morning.
The theft was reported to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Monday by the manager and part-owner of the restaurant located at 1100 S. Monroe St. The manager told deputies the appliance was still in working condition, but needed a new compressor. He put the refrigerator outside to free up space in the kitchen until the repair could be made. When he came to work Monday, he discovered it missing and called 911. A surveillance camera showed two males placed the refrigerator in the back of a black Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup and drove off.
