Put-in-Bay Barbershop Quartet singers return Aug. 13
PUT-IN-BAY - The annual Put-in-Bay Barbershop Quartet Show at Perry’s Monument Visitors Center is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 13.
The program will showcase about 20 talented quartets from around Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Each foursome will share two songs. Close to 100 singers will combine for a grand finale. The program is presented to the public free of charge, with sponsorship provided by The Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center.
The Put-in-Bay Barbershop Singers have performed at Perry’s Peace Memorial for over 70 years. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. A limited amount of chairs will be available. In case of rain the concert will be moved to nearby Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.

A string band, a boogie piano player and vocalists performing songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s are among the performers featured this summer during the Verandah Concert series at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. The popular concerts take place twice a month on Wednesdays on the verandah of the historic home of 19th U.S. President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes, located at Spiegel Grove at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues, Fremont.

PCHS announces Senior Spotlight for May
PORT CLINTON - Port Clinton High School announced the Senior Spotlight for May is Alaina Dackermann. She has represented PCHS as a student athlete all four years of high school. In fact, each fall season she was a dual sport athlete for tennis and cross country.
She was part of the Sandusky Bay Conference Championship Tennis Team and received individual league honors her junior and senior year. She was the 2020 tennis team captain, and received the silver racket award her junior and senior year. As a PCHS diver, she set a goal as a freshman to qualify for the state diving meet all four years which she accomplished along with placing 12th as a senior.
