Carol Rofstad, who was 21 when she was killed, lived in Normal, IL while attending Illinois State University. She was found beaten unconscious about noon December 23, 1975, outside her sorority house at 602 S. Fell Street. The suspected murder weapon, an 18-inch piece of railroad tie, was found nearby. Rofstad wasn t found until roughly 12 hours after the attack. She died Christmas Eve as a result of head injuries.
Two men, one of whom carried a club, were seen between 10 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on December 22, 1975. Both were white males and between the ages of 18 and 25.
Wilmington man charged with stealing 3 vehicles in one day: police

KANKAKEE - A Wilmington man is accused of stealing three vehicles within a 24-hour period Monday morning.
According to the
Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department, 21-year-old Zachary Palmer was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and felony theft.
Officials used OnStar to locate one of the stolen vehicles off
Illinois Route 113 in Grundy County Monday morning. They soon determined that another vehicle had been stolen from a nearby residence.
Police then initiated a pursuit when Palmer fled the scene. The vehicle, allegedly driven by Palmer, crashed into several other cars and side-swiped a Grundy County sheriff’s cruiser before crashing into a school bus.
Authorities haven t said whether White fired any shots, but no officers were wounded.
Police body-camera video of the shooting will be released within 60 days.

CHICAGO â A 35-year-old man thanked his victim for âsaving his life,â at a bail hearing Saturday afternoon where he faced vehicular hijacking charges for taking a rental van at gunpoint in the Austin neighborhood.
Andrew Collins of the 400 block of North St. Louis Avenue was charged with one count of vehicular hijacking of a handicap person, one count of discharge of a weapon and one misdemeanor count of leaving the scene, police said.
During a bail hearing broadcast on YouTube, prosecutors said Collins was first involved in a gun exchange in an alley near a U-Haul business in the 1700 block of North Cicero Avenue, where he encountered at man in his 60s attempting to return a van.
