Beer Nut: Brew Practitioners on the move, Yuengling goes mango, and more
Updated Feb 07, 2021;
A few beer news items of note have cropped up over the past few weeks when I’ve been waxing philosophic on Guinness and New England IPAs. So I’ll shut my yap this week and just do some reporting (with maybe a smattering of commentary).
First up is the sad (for Northampton) but happy (for Agawam) news that Brew Practitioners will be moving (and, in fact, is already on the move) from the former to the latter. BP was a great spot to relax and have a few beers while enjoying some music. (Particularly entertaining were the Wednesday open mic nights hosted by guitarist extraordinaire Alex Johnson, who is now plying his trade in Japan.)

The long-time friends who run Brew Practitioners, a majority women-owned brewery in Florence, spent years chatting and researching the idea. But after a visit to Munich’s Oktoberfest in 2014, they explain on the brewery’s website, “we were ready to jump right in there is just too much happiness in a beer garden to not own one!”
Tanzi Cannon-Eckerle, one of the founders, has spent the last two years hard at work brewing while renovating a 150-year-old building formerly the headquarters of the Florence Sewing Machine Company into a hangout and hosting space, complete with lofty ceilings, a long wooden bar and exposed brick walls, and an outdoor patio.
