Council member urges USPS to reopen Buckeye neighborhood post office USPS seeks to hire 400 workers in Cleveland area By Chris Anderson | May 11, 2021 at 3:30 PM EDT - Updated May 11 at 3:30 PM
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland council member is publicly calling for the United States Postal Service to immediately reopen the Buckeye neighborhood post office following an abrupt closure.
Councilman Blaine Griffin was joined by residents and advocate groups to urge the U.S. Postal Service to reopen the neighborhood facility.
The Buckeye post office, located on East 130th Street, closed approximately eight months ago, leaving residents with one less option for mail service.
The calls for the resignation of Charleston City Councilman Harry Griffin might appear at first to be the rallying cry of righteous activism. Upon closer examination, however, they re really just one more unfair trial in the court of public opinion.
The ruination of people s lives, the derailment and destruction of all that they have worked to faithfully build, is now commonplace. The demand, without due process of law, for those we disagree with to be silenced is tragically our new normal.
We stigmatize, label and weaponize our words in such a way that there is no room for thoughtful dialogue, reflection and conversation, only the apology after apology, under forceful pressure .

Before the next march on City Hall, we need to get one thing straight.
Are we madder at Charleston City Councilman Harry Griffin â the one with the potty mouth and questionable judgment â or Councilmen Robert Mitchell, Keith Waring and William Dudley Gregorie?
Because earlier this week, it was kind of hard to tell.
In news conferences and online petitions and at City Councilâs Zoom meeting Tuesday, folks have repeatedly demanded that Griffin resign from council for palling around with âhate groups.â
But some of those condemning Griffin have been just about as critical of City Councilâs three African American members for ⦠well, thatâs not entirely clear. People who called into the council meeting said they were âhugely disappointedâ in their response to Griffinâs antics, claimed âsilence is complicityâ and threatened to vote them out of office.
