K9 Chaos captures Bronson man after lengthy Noble County pursuit

By Jim Measel Aug 1, 2021 | 8:42 PM NOBLE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Two persons were arrested Saturday following a chase on numerous Noble Township secondary roads and bean fields before it ended in a dense wooded area. Branch County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Chaos captured the driver after the long chase. Branch County Sheriff’s Department Undersheriff Keith Eichler said in a news release that deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Dutch School Road near Sielkens Road but the Black Acura accelerated and would not stop for the pursuing Deputy. The pursuit hit speeds of up to 110 miles-per-hour. After 13 miles, the vehicle turned south on Hurley Road at high rate of speed.

Tekonsha man suffers head injury in motorcycle-deer crash By Jim Measel Jul 25, 2021 | 6:17 PM CLARENDON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Tekonsha man suffered a severe head injury Sunday morning when his motorcycle struck a deer in northeastern Branch County. The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says 49-year-old David Briegel was heading west on East Girard Road west of Dean Road just after midnight when he struck the deer. The Sheriff’s Department says Briegel did not report the accident. He was taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital by a friend at about 5:00 a.m.. Branch County Sheriff Deputies were notified at 5:47 a.m. by the hospital.

One Dead, Two Injured In Suspected Drunken Driving Crash A Battle Creek man is dead and two others were injured following a late, Sunday afternoon crash, near I-94 and Arlene’s Truck Stop. An arrest has been made and authorities suspect drunken driving was involved. Kalamazoo County Sheriff Deputies were called to the scene on East Michigan, just before 6 PM. There, deputies determined that a vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Battle Creek resident was traveling eastbound and failed to stop at a stop sign on Mercury Drive. Their vehicle struck another, northbound vehicle which had the right of way. The northbound car was pushed off the road and came to rest after flipping over. The driver of the second vehicle, a 32-year-old, Battle Creek man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants inside their vehicle were rushed off to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The original, at-fault driver was arrested at the scene for operating under the influence of alcohol
