Ellis County DA moving up the ladder of success By Patty Hullett For the Daily Light Newly-elected Ellis County District Attorney Ann Montgomery wasn’t born and raised here in Waxahachie, but since her arrival in the spring of 2016 she’s made her mark on the city and has been heavily involved in the local government process ever since. Montgomery was sworn into her new position on Jan. 1, 2021. Born and raised near Cleburne in Johnson County, Montgomery is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Billy Gene Montgomery. She says, “The last few years have been hard for me, as I lost my mother in 2018 and then my father passed away in 2019. Both lived in Cleburne at the time of their deaths.”

James White has been reappointed to the Texas Crime Victims’ Institute Advisory Council for a term set to expire January 31, 2023. The council is charged with conducting an in-depth analysis of the impact of crime on victims, close relatives of deceased victims, guardians of victims and society. James White, of Hillister, is a Texas State Representative of District 19 and Chair of the Texas House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety. Previously, he served as a high school teacher in Woodville. He is currently an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Texas Farm Bureau. White received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Prairie View A&M University and Doctor
