LOGAN â Current active cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Logan County remain above the 300 mark this week, with 311 recorded as of Monday evening.
Cumulatively, Logan County has had 2,317 cases recorded since its first case on March 25, 2020, with 1,942 recovered and 64 deceased. There were 33 patients in the hospital as of Mondayâs count.
Logan County Health Department Director Steve Browning says he is hopeful that number will begin to drop some over next month. He said the steady surge in cases the county has seen this month is likely a result of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
âIâm hopeful that our numbers will start to come back down and weâll get those numbers, within a month, to a â I donât know, thereâs no better number â but to a much lower number,â Browning said, âand then Iâm hopeful that the more the vaccine gets out to people that weâll see a steady decline. Iâm hopeful of that.â
LOGAN â Although the active caseload number is down from Monday, Logan County recorded an additional 52 cases of the COVID-19 virus as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Active cases number 268 in the county, with 29 hospitalizations. Cumulatively, there have been 1,665 cases recorded in Logan County since March 25, with 1,338 recoveries and 59 deaths.
On Monday, active cases peaked at 306.
Logan County Health Department Director Steve Browning said the county is still seeing the effects of Thanksgiving gatherings a month ago. He added that he expects to see another spike in cases after Christmas and the New Year.
âI see it staying at least the same or worse,â Browning said. âWhat weâre seeing right now is just a culmination of, basically, the Thanksgiving holiday, plus any new contacts that theyâve had.
