Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) Richard Byles.
Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) Richard Byles has said that the rebound in the Jamaican economy could be as high as eight per cent during the 2021/2022 financial year.
The projection is based on improvements in tourism and pent up demand in other sectors.
Speaking at the BOJ s Quarterly Monetary Policy update last Friday, Byles stated, “It is likely that growth could trend towards the top-end of this forecast range, given the higher than anticipated pace of inoculations, the anticipated release of pent up vacation demand from this development and the impact of the significant fiscal and monetary stimuli in Jamaica’s major trading partner.”
