CLAY Clay City Councilor Bo Johnson announced at the regular Clay Council meeting on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, that the city’s annual movie nights will kick off a week from this Friday with the movie “Onward.” The city will hold three Friday night movie nights behind the new Clay Public Library beginning at 7 p.m. on May 21, June 4 and June 18.
“Faith Community Fellowship is going to pull their trailer up and provide food and drinks for that,” Johnson said. “We’ve got a couple of other churches coming on board to help with popcorn and cotton candy and, quite possibly, Faith Community is going to handle the inflatables for us this year, as well. It’s cool to have people and churches working together for that event. We encourage everybody to come out.”
Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Uhrichsville and Dennison branches closed in March 2020 during the height of the pandemic. The Uhrichsville branch reopened on July 13, 2020, but the Dennison branch remained closed out of concern for the well-being of patrons and staff. Things are starting to lift, so it s time to get back into business, said library Director Donna Moody. It s exciting.
Curbside service will be available for patrons who are uncomfortable going inside.
She noted that the Dennison branch has new carpeting.
The library system s summer reading club will be starting soon. It will run from May 31 through July 26.
Tuscarawas libraries to distribute antigen tests
The Times-Reporter
Public libraries in Tuscarawas County are joining other libraries across Ohio in partnering with the state to distribute at-home rapid antigen test kits to the public.
The libraries requested kits from the state to distribute these self-administered nasal swab tests, which were provided at no cost by the state of Ohio through an exclusive agreement with eMed. The antigen test can provide test results in as little as 15 minutes.
Kits will be available at libraries in Bolivar, Dover, Gnadenhutten, New Philadelphia, Newcomerstown, Strasburg, Sugarcreek, Tuscarawas and Uhrichsville. Those interested in obtaining a test can call their library to arrange a time for pick up. The libraries will offer contactless delivery of the test kits through drive-up windows or curbside service.
