By the year 2040, Alabama will have some 5.319 million residents, an increase of more than 11% from its population in 2010.
Some Alabama counties will see a much higher rate of growth by that year, according to projections from the Culverhouse School of Business Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Alabama. Using Census data, the center has projected the rate of population growth for each Alabama county for the span of time from 2010 to 2040.
