Holdren, announces the recent sentencings of 11 individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court. Holdren reported the following sentencings on Wednesday via a news release: Gary P. McGuire, age 46, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Rape, a felony of the first degree. McGuire was sentenced to prison for a minimum period of 10 years and a maximum period of 15 years. Upon release from prison, McGuire will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for 5 years and be required to register as a Tier Three Sex Offender.

According to a news release from Holdren’s office, Judge Margaret Evans sentenced Ruane to a prison term of life in prison, without the possibility of parole for the murder of her 16-month-old child. On December 17, 2020, Ruane pled guilty to Aggravated Murder, with a firearm specification, a Special Category Felony; and Having Weapons while under Disability, a Felony of the Third Degree, Holdren’s office reported.

Holdren announced the recent sentencings of seven individuals by Judge Margaret Evans in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court. According to a news release from Holdren’s office: Timothy R. Ratcliff, age 36, of Lewisville, Ohio, was recently convicted of Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree; and Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree. Ratcliff was sentenced to a minimum period of 6.5 years and a maximum period of 9 years in prison. The Court noted at sentencing that Ratcliff has a history of criminal convictions, having served prior prison terms. Appellate court upholds Gallia convictions Powell GALLIPOLIS On Thursday, Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney Jason D. Holdren announced the Fourth District Court of Appeals recently upheld two convictions from the Gallia County Common Pleas Court. According to a news release, on Dec. 20, 2019, Tyrone Q. Powell, III, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Murder following the fatal shooting of Tyrone Powell, Jr., in Gallipolis on April 15, 2019. The Defendant was 15 years old at the time of the offense and charged in the Gallia County Juvenile Court. The Gallia County Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion to transfer jurisdiction of this case to the Gallia County Common Pleas Court for criminal prosecution as an adult. Thereafter, Powell was convicted and sentenced by Judge Margaret Evans to 15 years to life in prison. Powell’s conviction was upheld by the Fourth District Court of Appeals.

Holdren. Holdren announced Joyceann Louise Ruane, age 25, of Crown City, was convicted Thursday in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court of Aggravated Murder, a special category felony; a firearm specification, indicating Ruane used a firearm to facilitate the offense of Aggravated Murder; and Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree. These convictions result from the July 23, 2020, shooting and subsequent death of Ruane’s 16-month-old child, according to the news release.
