Photos of a critically-ill man riding pillion sandwiched between two people, who were both wearing PPE kits, have kicked up a political storm in Kerala. Visuals of the incident have been widely shared on social media by supporters of opposition parties who have launched a scathing attack against the Kerala government. While the supporters of the ruling Left Front are busy looking at UP, Gujarat and Karnataka, critical patients are pillion-riding to hospitals through country roads, what a shame! a user wrote.

Amidst the agitation by the Kerala PSC Rank Holders Associations and opposition from youth organisations backed by the United Democratic Front, the Special Cabinet on Monday decided to regularise 151 contract staff with more than 10 years of experience.
The highest of 100 temporary staff in various categories with more than 10 years of experience to be regularised is in the State-owned Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC).

Hospital has no functional firefighting installations, says Fire Dept. official
The Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kalamassery, which continues to be at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic and was the first dedicated COVID treatment centre in the State, does not have the mandatory No-Objection Certificate (NOC) of the Fire and Rescue Services Department.
Of the four blocks with 500 beds, the one housing the recently constructed Cath Lab alone has NOC, it emerged during a recent fire audit done by the Fire and Rescue Services Department on a Supreme Court directive.
