U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis., announced Ella Hunter as the 2021 Artistic Discovery Contest winner. Ellaâs artwork titled âBlueâ will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year. Ella is a sophomore at Waterford High School and resides in Waterford.
âCongratulations to Ella for winning this yearâs Artistic Discovery Contest. âBlueâ will proudly hang in the halls of the United States Capitol. Each year, I am impressed by the artistic abilities of high school students across Southeast Wisconsin. Ellaâs passion for art and artistic talents are evident in her painting which took nearly three weeks to complete. Thank you to our Artistic Discovery Contest judges, Ella, and all students who submitted artwork,â Steil said in a statement. Saturdayâs ceremony took place at Gateway Technical Collegeâs Burlington campus. Sixteen high school students submitted artwork for the 2021 contest.

Concord Highâs Neerali Parika was named the winner of the 2021 Artistic Discovery Contest for North Carolinaâs 8th District at a special ceremony at the City Club at Gibson Mill on Wednesday.
Parikaâs black-and-white portrait of Michelle Obama will now be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
The Congressional Art Competition is optional for Representatives across the country, but Congressman Richard Hudson has made a point to take part throughout his nine years in Congress because of his love for the arts.
âIâve always done it because I think itâs really important,â he said during his opening comments Wednesday evening. âNot only to highlight your art and talent, but I just think the arts are so important. Theyâre so important just for our quality of life, but I also think itâs great for brain development.

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Students from across the Lowcountry have until the end of the month to submit their original artwork to hang in the nationâs Capitol.
The Artistic Discovery Contest will accept entries through April 30. Accepted entries will be chosen to hang in the Capitol for one year.
U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace stopped at Fort Dorchester High School on Monday morning to promote the contest.
