They’re back! Dallas’ beloved and critically-applauded Ochre House Theatre returns to live productions after a year of presenting only virtual shows during the pandemic. “Cursed!” is their season opening musical, and is written and directed by Artistic Director Matthew Posey in a collaboration with Dallas Flamenco Festival. The performances are scheduled July 22-Aug. 1 on the outdoor stage at Deep Ellum Art Company.
An art gallery and live music venue, the Deep Ellum Art Company at 3200 Commerce Street offers a 15,000 feet Art Yard, the biggest backyard in the area. They also feature food trucks and a large drink selection. Founders John and Kari LaRue created the Art Co. to preserve the artistic vibe that makes Deep Ellum unique.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music goes virtual this year for the annual celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The festivities include a keynote speech by Alicia Garza, co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Global Network, and performances by Grammy Award-winning gospel and R&B artist and Maroon 5 keyboardist PJ Morton, Tank and the Bangas lead vocalist Tarriona Tank Ball, Vy Higgensen s award-winning choir Sing Harlem!, 2020-2021 BAM Artist Resident poet Timothy DuWhite, and spoken word artist Ashley August. The program will be complemented by a digital film screening of William Greaves

Ochre House Theater Cinema is streaming a hit production from their 2017 season, “ORIGINAL MAN,” written and directed by Artistic Director Matthew Posey. The riveting musical revolves around Joe, a young man fighting to be free from an abusive father. Joe tries to leave his cruel, ruthless existence by creating an imaginary world.
“Original Man,” featuring original music, spectacle, and tour de force performances, is available to stream on their YouTube channel starting Dec. 23. Written and directed by Matthew Posey, the musical also features Marcus Stimac as Joe, Matthew Posey as Old Joe, and Carla Parker as Percy Neville.
