KPH limits admission as 25 hospital staff catch COVID-19 Philippine Information Agency 29 Apr 2021, 20:38 GMT+10 CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, April 29 (PIA) - The Kalinga Provincial Hospital has limited admission of non-COVID patients as 25 of the hospital staff are isolated for testing positive for COVID-19. Last April 26, the KPH issued an advisory that 13 of its health workers had positive RT-PCR test results. Yesterday, Chief-of-Hospital Dr Marilyn T. Duyan confirmed that 12 more hospital staff tested positive for COVID-19. The 25 are among the 31 hospital workers who were swabbed due to direct exposure to COVID-19 patients this month. Chief-of-Hospital Dr Marilyn T. Duyan said mandatory swabbing of the more than 300 KPH personnel is now ongoing. The KPH has recorded 58 health frontliners positive of COVID-19 since January 2021.

13 dead as SUV falls into Kalinga irrigation canal

Tabuk police chief Police Col. Radino Belly said a black Ford Everest with license plates AAK 9184 driven by Jail Officer 1 Soy Lope Agtulao, 36, plunged into the irrigation canal and submerged in the water at about 6 p.m. Authorities said Soy died along with her children Cydwin Lope, 6, and Cyan Lope, 4; her sister Sony Puking Lope, 22; her father Alfredo Cutit Lope, 59; relatives Judilyn Talawec Dumayom, 31; Seadarn Dumayom, 5; Jeslyn Dumayom,4; Remedios Longey Basilio, 56; Jessibel Basilio Paycao, 27; Cedric Basilio Paycao, 4; Scarlet Paycao, 3; and Marlo Gel Perena, 6.

Drug trafficker nabbed after jumping into Kalinga river

SunStar + April 13, 2021 A DRUG trafficker was arrested after trying to escape from operatives of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Tabuk City, Kalinga by jumping into the Chico river. “Escape gone wrong,” said Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) Director Police Colonel Davy Limmong after Ruben Appag, 27, of Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, was arrested after his failed attempt to evade arrest. Appag was rescued by personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection. He sustained several injuries after jumping into the river. Confiscated from the suspect were two bags containing four tubes and 19 bricks of suspected marijuana dried leaves and stalks with an estimated weight of around 23 kilos and worth P2,760,000.
