Parkes Shire Cultural Grants now open for 2021

Parkes Shire Local groups and organisations are encouraged to enhance their musical, cultural, and artistic endeavours by applying for a Parkes Shire Council Cultural Grant. The aim of Council’s cultural grants program is to encourage and support the development of local community organisations, services and strategies which make a positive contribution to the community and cultural life of the Shire. Manager Cultural, Education & Library Services, Kerryn Jones said “Council recognises the importance of a culturally rich and vibrant community. By fostering the development of skills, talents and abilities at a local level and enhancing cultural facilities and infrastructure, these grants support creative and innovative cultural activity throughout our shire.”

Cultural Grants 2020/21 announced

Kiama Council Kiama Council is providing $20,000 to four local projects as part of its Cultural Grants Program for 2020/21. Council’s Cultural Grants support innovative projects that involve the community, and help develop artistic skills and experience. The projects being supported are: YouthFest (Kiama and District Stronger Community) – $6,000 YouthFest is a free event kicking off with a forum showcasing local panelists including sports people, influencers, musicians and those who suffer from mental illness. After the forum, there will be a mini music festival and market showcasing local musicians, local young makers and creatives. LGBTIQ Choir – $2,500 This project will establish an LGBTIQ Choir in Kiama to: showcase the talent of the LGBTQ community and break down stigma and discrimination; provide an activity to improve mental health through interpersonal connection; to foster growth and musical development in a safe environment, and to showcase Kiama as an acceptin

It allows properties to be leased to use for armory purposes for up to 30 years, rather than the current 20 years. It amends the Iowa Code of Military Justice so that military commanders [Grade Colonel/06] can hold service members accountable if they commit offenses while off duty when there is a nexus between military service and the offense (e.g., sexual harassment, sexual assault involving two service members). It allows the Adjutant General to include in the annual report on certain offenses, the number of sexual abuse cases reported to the U.S. Department of Defense that are not otherwise required to be reported. It also enhances the popular education benefits available that help the Guard recruit and retain members.
