Bradford youngsters host charity photography exhibition | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

YOUNG people in Bradford with learning disabilities had the chance to show off their skills and display their work at a photography exhibition at the Kala Sangam Arts Centre. Mencap run a Supported Internship programme from the centre, and part of a new programme this year the young people organised the photography exhibition, which was held last Wednesday. The programme is designed to support young people with learning disabilities to get into work. The course covers English, maths, employability skills and work experience. Mencap run supporting internships for young people with learning disabilities, said Suzanne Parish, an employ,ment case worker for Mencap Supported Internships.

Bradford joins kickstart scheme to get young people back into work | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

HUNDREDS of paid work placements are being made available across Bradford through the Government’s Kickstart scheme, which aims to get young people aged 16 – 24 on Universal Credit back into employment. The scheme is designed to give young people at risk of long-term unemployment, six months paid work experience funded by the government, to improve their chances of finding a permanent job. Over 130 employers across the city have signed up to provide placements through the SkillsHouse Partnership, and the roles are now starting to be filled. SkillsHouse is a gateway provider, helping businesses access funding, while also providing training and support during the placement.
