In the year that the UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties in Glasgow, Honiton’s Thelma Hulbert Gallery and East Devon District Council have launched Climate Conversations: a multi-site programme of exhibitions, events and activities.
For the first time, the gallery, in the town’s Dowell Street, will present an exhibition across two towns - Honiton and Exmouth.
The arts can raise questions, find different perspectives and create new opportunities to help us understand and adapt to our changing planet.
Climate Conversations has been developed against the context of the East Devon District Council commitment to Devon’s climate change emergency declaration and the University of Exeter’s declaration of an environment and climate emergency.
Community partnerships are a large part of the success of fundraising to date. Forest City Community School District has partnered with the City of Forest City to develop programs for students after school and days there are no school. These integrated programs may include tutoring, STEM Programs as well as reading and learning activities. The partnership with the Forest City Community School District will help make these new programs and the new library be a reality.
Currently the project is looking for an additional $900,000 in public donations and grants. Pledges may be made online, at City Hall or the Library, and paid over five years by check, credit card or Paypal.
Eye Level, a global children s education service provider, has kicked off its first ever Eye Level Ambassadors program on March 5, 2021.
The 21 Eye Level Ambassadors are from the United States, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Thailand. Each Ambassador will receive a scholarship equivalent to his or her region s Eye Level annual fee (up to 3,400 USD).
Between March 2021 and February 2022, the Ambassadors will promote various brand activities as well as share their personal learning experiences and success stories from their tenure at Eye Level.
One story shared by all of this year s Ambassadors is how they went from lacking basic arithmetic and computing skills to acquiring critical thinking and problem solving skills. Another would be how learning English at Eye Level helped them write exceptional essays for university admissions and ultimately helping them to be accepted to prestigious schools.
