to end childhood hunger
I’d like to express congratulations and sincere gratitude to Anneliese Tanner. This month she ll be leaving her role as executive director of Food Service and Warehouse Operations for the Austin Independent School District.
Since 2015, Anneliese has treated the school cafeteria as both an extension of the classroom and a source of equitable access to healthy, delicious food for all kids in Austin, where many students rely on school meals as their primary source of nutrition.
From expanding breakfast in the classroom and afterschool meals so students get three meals a day, to making meals both nutritious and appealing by introducing salad bars, food trucks, scratch cooking and global cuisines she has been an innovative and impactful leader.
Allison Hall evacuated after “facilities issue” triggers fire alarm
February 8, 2021
A fire alarm prompted the evacuation of Allison Hall’s residents mid-Monday morning.
A “facilities issue” in the Allison lobby and dining hall triggered the alarm, which began around 11:57 a.m., according to South Area Resident Director Dani O’Hara. No other details on the nature of the issue were immediately available.
Students were ushered outside and into various spaces such as the dining hall tent and Shepard Hall common areas to avoid inclement weather and follow social distancing guidelines.
Allison residents were let back in the hall around 12:20 p.m. in waves and were asked to observe social distancing where possible.
